Under the Road Traffic (Construction and Use of Vehicles) Regulations 2003 an Abnormal Load Permit is required to authorize the use of vehicles on public roads in South Dublin County Council’s administrative area.
There are currently 3 types of bollards in South Dublin County Council’s administrative area at present: -
Cement/Concrete, Steel and Wooden
Road Maintenance Section carries out a number of various minor road improvement works including fixing potholes on the road, repairing any damaged footpaths, re-surfacing and surface dressing.
Road Maintenance Section deals with flooding issues on public footpaths and roads
Gullies are at edge of roadway where road meets footpath. They are usually recognisable by their grated covers.
If you wish to have your footpath lowered at your address the following procedures are in place:
Planning Permission may be needed for the widening of the vehicular entrance. Where necessary please provide the reference number of your planning permission. This is to be obtained independently from the Planning Department.
Overgrowth refers to any tree or vegetation obstructing a public road, footpath, public lighting column, road sign or cycle paths.
Road Maintenance Section have responsibility for maintaining road markings within the South Dublin adminstrative area.

Taking-in-charge certificates are issued for estates within South Dublin County Council's administrative area.
