Traffic introduction

The Traffic and Transportation Section deals with a wide range of traffic control measures, including the provision and maintenance of traffic signals (c.125 sets in the county at present), roundabouts and signing and lining to junctions, etc. To view further information go to Traffic Queries.

The Section is responsible for implementing Dublin Transportation Office policy as laid down in ‘A Platform for Change’ . The main aspects of this involve the construction of Quality Bus Corridors (QBC's), and cycle routes.

The Traffic & Transportation Section deals with a wide range of traffic management and control measures. With the significant increase in traffic flows, the section's work has adapted and expanded to manage transport in the county for the benefit of all road users.

The objectives of the section include:

• Providing priority for public transport and other
selected vehicles

• Enhancing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists
