Public lighting

The Public Lighting Section deals with the maintenance, upgrading and improvement of public lighting installations throughout the County.  The total number of public lighting columns is approximately 27,500.

Private contractors maintain approximately 75% of the public lights in the Council’s area.

The remainder is divided between the E.S.B. who act as our maintenance agents for lights on E.S.B. poles and Dublin City Council. Please note any Public Lighting Columns which are Wooden Poles are maintained by the ESB and faults should be reported directly to ESB Networks at 1850 372 372.
